Nearly 1,000 graduates took part in the Dec. 15 commencement ceremony at the KFC Yum! Center.

UofL’s winter commencement seemed especially merry for the nearly 1,000 graduates who took part in the Dec. 15 event at the KFC Yum! Center.

Minutes after the ceremony got underway, Acting President Neville Pinto encouraged the crowd to make some noise.

And they did.

Graduates crossed the stage to enthusiastic cheers and reciprocated with fist pumps, victory signs, dance steps and, of course, plenty of “Ls.”

The student speaker during the ceremony was nursing student Karina Strange and political science professor Julie Bunck was recognized as the 2016 Trustees Award winner.
