LOUISVILLE, Ky. –The University of Louisville has made the 2014 edition of The Princeton Review’s Guide to 332 Green Colleges, a free guide released today for college-bound students.
The guide profiles higher education institutions in the U.S. and Canada that have shown notable progress in advancing sustainability by integrating it in academics, campus infrastructure, activities and career preparation.
UofL’s profile, which appears on Page 149 of the guide, mentions its success at reducing its greenhouse gas emissions, adherence to green building practices and work in renewable energy research as reasons for its inclusion.
The guide was compiled based on responses from school administrators to a survey about their institution’s sustainability-related policies, practices and programs.
In 2011, UofL became one of the first schools in the nation to earn a Silver designation in the Sustainability Tracking, Rating and Assessment System (STARS), a system that measures the environmental, social and economic responsibility of U.S. and Canadian schools.
