On July 13, UPS picked up 76 boxes filled with clothing, food and other items from UofL and delivered them to Alabama to aid victims of April’s devastating tornadoes.
The campus community donated about 1,200 pounds of items during the recent collection drive, with items including clothing, non-perishable foods, toiletries, bedding, diapers, baby food, and shoes. The items were delivered to the Federation of Southern Cooperatives for distribution to tornado victims.
The drive was organized by the Staff Senate’s Assistance, Morale and Outreach Committee.
I’m very proud of how the university community came together and supported this, said committee chair Tammy Lawson. It was a huge success.
UPS, through its foundation, shipped the items at no cost. The Home Depot on Hurstbourne Lane and the U-Haul store on Bardstown Road donated boxes for the project.
