UofL’s Kent School of Social Work is sponsoring the “Hope Starts Here” event with Nativity Academy at St. Boniface, an independent Catholic middle school.
The Saturday morning sessions are open to all and geared to young people and adults such as educators, counselors and parents interested in their healthy development.
The conference will run from 9 a.m. to noon at Nativity Academy at St. Boniface, 529 E. Liberty St. There is no registration, and lunch is provided afterward.
Kentucky Sen. Gerald Neal will open the conference, which will feature WAVE-TV reporter-anchor Dawne Gee discussing cyberbullying and its consequences, Metro Councilwoman Attica Scott discussing self-esteem and confidence issues, and other local leaders talking about how to help young people save money, make educational choices, express their feelings appropriately and navigate online communication wisely.
