The Student Activities Board is sponsoring the show.
“Live Lunch” is a live broadcast weekly concert at the WFPK studios on Fourth Street. The program features local acts or groups that are in town for performances later in the evening.
Doors open at 11:30 a.m. The show starts at noon.
Since 2009, SAB has partnered with the radio station to host a few “Live Lunch” broadcasts at the Red Barn each year. This year, “Live Lunch” will be on campus in September, October, March and April.
“The partnership with WFPK has been great,” said senior Tony Ausick, chair of SAB’s Campus Life committee. “This is a fantastic event. People should come out for great music and free food.”
When The Watson Twins, an L.A.-based indie folk group, takes the Red Barn stage Friday, it will be a sort of homecoming for the duo. Its members, Chandra and Leigh Wilson, grew up in Louisville.
The duo has toured internationally and has appeared on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “Conan,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson.” In 2010, the band recorded a cover of The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven,” that was featured on the Grammy- nominated soundtrack for the first season of HBO’s “True Blood.” Earlier this year, the group released its fourth album “Night Covers,” which features covers of songs by PJ Harvey, Bill Withers, Sade and the Black Keys.
UofL students and employees can attend “Live Lunch” at the Red Barn free of charge, but they will need their valid UofL ID for entry. Several front-row tables are reserved for WFPK members.
