Authors Merv Aubespin, Ken Clay and Blaine Hudson, dean of UofL’s College of Arts and Sciences, drew from several Photographic Archives collections for images that span nearly a century from the late 1800s through the mid-1970s.
“The photos from UofL Photo Archives were critically important to our ability to portray many eras in the history of black Louisville, particularly the early decades,” Hudson said. “The variety of photos available, as well as their quality, added tremendously to the appeal of the book. Merv, Ken and I really appreciate the Photo Archives being open to us.”
The Photographic Archives gallery is in the east wing, lower level, Ekstrom Library. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
