Ramsey and Cosby received the Community Service Award for their cooperative efforts to get more Louisville African Americans enrolled in, and graduating from, college. Cosby is the president of Simmons College, a historically black institution that has been revived in west Louisville.

Cosby and Ramsey signed an agreement in April that calls for their two schools to work on aligning their general education requirements to make it easier for Simmons students to transfer their credits toward a four-year degree at UofL.
