The Louisville Cornhole Cup presented by Merrill Lynch will be at the Brown and Williamson Club at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. Participants can win cash prizes and bragging rights, all while helping Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana provide a “home away from home” for the families of seriously ill children.

UofL sport administration students also are benefitting from the event – they’re gaining practical experience in sport event management.

“This event is significant because the students are not only learning about event management, but service learning and social responsibility as well. The goal is for students to understand the value of giving back and supporting and strengthening the community in which they live. It’s all about changing people’s lives for the better,” said Gary Bernstein, whose students, both undergraduate and graduate, are running the event.

“The 2011 Louisville Cornhole Cup provides a great opportunity for us students to gain great experience, the public to enjoy a day of fun-filled activity, and the Ronald McDonald House of Kentuckiana to support even more families in need,” said tournament chair and sport administration graduate student Michael Clemons.

Merrill Lynch is the title sponsor of the event.
