The sing-along version of Disney’s “Frozen” will be shown June 20 at the University of Louisville as the second film in the Cards Under the Stars summer movie series.
The free event kicks off at 6:30 p.m. on the lawn between the Natural Sciences Building and Grawemeyer Hall. The PG-rated film begins at dusk, but earlier activities include:
- Children’s inflatables and games
- Music performance by Louisville recording artist Leigh Ann Yost
- Appearances by members of the Louisville League of Mascots
- A “Frozen” photo area for kids
Sweet ‘N’ Savory food truck will be onsite selling crepes, gelato and smoothies. Cash and credit cards are accepted.
Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and picnic baskets and coolers with snacks and drinks to make for a comfortable evening. Parking is available in the lot next to Grawemeyer Hall (2301 S. Third St.) and behind Ernst Hall (216 Eastern Parkway).
“Frozen” tells the story of two sisters in the kingdom of Arendelle. Fearless optimist Princess Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) sets off on an epic journey—teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven—to find her sister, Queen Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a snowman named Olaf, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom and bring back summer.
Cards Under the Stars will continue Friday, July 25, with “The Lego Movie.” The movie series is sponsored by UofL’s Great Places to Work Initiative and the Office of the President.
