Grawemeyer Talks
April 11, April 12 and April 14
Recipients of three 2011 University of Louisville Grawemeyer Awards will give free, public talks. World order award winner Kevin Bales will discuss his book, “Ending Slavery: How We Free Today’s Slaves,” April 11 at 2 p.m. in Floyd Theater, Swain Student Activities Center. Religion award winner Luke Timothy Johnson will discuss his book, “Among the Gentiles: Greco-Roman Religion and Christianity,” April 12 at 7 p.m. in Caldwell Chapel, Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Psychology award winner Walter Mischel, who created a scientific method to study human self-control, will discuss his work April 14 at noon in Comstock Hall, School of Music. More information

President’s Budget Forum
2 p.m. April 12, Floyd Theater, Student Activities Center
President James Ramsey and other university officials will discuss the proposed 2011-2012 budget. All faculty and staff are encouraged to attend.

Mickey Mouse Monopoly: Disney, Childhood & Corporate Power
5 p.m. April 13, Cultural Center, Belknap Campus
The Socially Just Parenting Project presents the talk “Mickey Mouse Monopoly: Disney, Childhood & Corporate Power.” The project at UofL is intended to provide resources and forums for parents who want to raise children who will see the world through a social justice lens and who will be committed to promoting social justice. How Orisanmi Chose His Head
April 13–17, Thrust Theater, Floyd and Warnock streets

An ancient tale from Nigeria adapted for the stage and directed by Nefertiti Burton, this play reveals the traditional Yoruba values of patience, humility, respect for parents and courtesy to others, complete with gorgeous costumes, whimsical sets, dances and drumming. An African American Theatre Program production. Admission: $10 faculty/staff, $8 student, $12 general. More information
