‘Knowledge of Ignorance: What Literature Can Teach the Natural Sciences’

Georgetown University political scholar Patrick Deneen will discuss how literature offers ways to balance science and technology. Free talk is sponsored by the McConnell Center.
Ed Hamilton: ‘Life Choices’
6 p.m. Thursday, April 7, Auditorium, Speed Art Museum
Louisville sculptor Ed Hamilton will discuss the steps that are necessary to create a successful site-specific public space in this free Frederic Lindley Morgan architectural history lecture. The Hite Art Institute sponsors Morgan series, named for the late Louisville building designer.
Director’s Showcase: ‘Carbon Nation’
7 p.m. Thursday, April 7, Floyd Theater, Student Activities Center
Director Peter Byck will showcase his documentary, which offers a positive outlook on how — with new ideas about eco-solutions — people might be able to create a greener world. A question and answer session with the director will follow the film. Event is free and is sponsored by the Student Activities Board.
WFPK Live Lunch featuring Jessica Lea Mayfield
11:30 a.m., Friday, April 8, Red Barn
WFPK 91.9 will broadcast its weekly live concert series from UofL. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and the broadcast begins at noon. Student Activities Board will serve a free lunch with the show (hotdogs, burgers, chips, soda). Seating is limited, and the audience is encouraged to stay for the entire one-hour show. Members of the campus community should bring their UofL ID for admission.
