As part of Kentucky Archives Month, UofL Archives and Special Collections and the Kentucky State Historical Records Advisory Board will honor Jack Fox, WHAS radio host emeritus, for his efforts to coordinate the WHAS Radio Oral History Project at UofL.
“This project is particularly significant because the history of broadcasting is an underrepresented area in the historical record, said Sarah-Jane Poindexter, co-director of the Oral History Center at UofL.
Fox’s institutional knowledge and long personal history with the station – more than 20 years as an employee and host – guided him in designing and implementing the project, which took three years to complete. The final product shares the story of WHAS Radio, its employees and its roots in the community and features 26 interviews.
Fox will be honored at 1 p.m., Oct. 30, in the Kain Rare Books Gallery lobby at Ekstrom Library. Refreshments will follow. Program presenters include representatives for UofL, WHAS Radio and the Kentucky State Archivist.
