The list ranks universities based on their sustainability efforts.
UofL placed 41st on the 2011 list of 118 schools. That ranking is a jump of 20 spots over 2010 and 51 spots over 2009.
“This increase in our ranking reflects our continued improvement in sustainability across the board,” said Justin Mog, assistant to the provost for sustainability initiatives.
UofL scored 62.4 points out of a possible 100 based on answers to a questionnaire about universities’ environmental practices, green initiatives and caliber of sustainability oriented education. The highest-scoring school, University of Washington, had 81.2 points.
UofL is the highest-ranked school in Kentucky. The Sierra Club ranked Centre College at 106.
