LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Prospective college students today have access to many financial aid opportunities. Financial aid programs and the process for applying for aid will be the topics of free workshops throughout Jefferson County in January and early February.
The University of Louisville is one of several organizations presenting the workshops, which are free and open to any potential college students and their parents. Other participating area schools include Spalding University, Bellarmine University and Jefferson Community and Technical College.
Workshop presenters will review the 2001-2002 Free Application for Federal Student Aid, which must be used to apply for most federal and state student financial aid programs. They also will discuss programs ranging from the Federal Pell Grant to Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority College Access Program (CAP) Grant.
Workshops will be held at 22 locations around Jefferson County. The first sessions will be Jan. 16, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Southern and Waggener high schools. Other locations are Ballard, Male, Jeffersontown, Seneca, Atherton, Central, Doss, Fern Creek, Shawnee, Pleasure Ridge Park, Valley, Moore, Eastern, Iroquois, Western, Butler, Fairdale and DuPont Manual high schools. Sessions also will be held at Spalding and Bellarmine universities.
The Jefferson County Public Schools, KHEAA, Kentucky Higher Education Student Loan Corp. and the participating colleges and universities are sponsoring the workshops.
