LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A University of Louisville student has been recognized as one of the nation’s top advertising students by the American Advertising Federation, the nation’s professional advertising organization.
Senior Tenisha Griffin was named among the AAF’s 25 Most Promising Minority Students for 2002. Griffin, who was nominated for the award by William Thompson, assistant professor of communication, was selected based on her resume, work in the field, grade point average and an essay.
“This mean a lot because it sets me apart from everyone else in my class,” Griffin said, explaining that it says something about the seriousness of her advertising career goals.
AAF also recognized 36 students, including U of L’s Douglas LaMont Johnson, on its honor roll.
Most promising students received a two-day trip to New York to meet with advertising executives from across the country. AAF also featured most promising and honor roll students in an issue of Advertising Age and published their resumes in a book that is available to U.S. advertising industry human resources managers.
The honor provides a remarkable set of networking opportunities to the student, Thompson said. It also recognizes the strength of U of L’s program and the diversity of the student body, he added.
“This is an arena where U of L should do well because of the diversity of the students and the strength of our programs,” he said.
