LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Robert Taylor, dean of the University of Louisville College of Business and Public Administration, has announced that he will step down at the end of 2002.

Dean of the business school for 18 years, Taylor announced to the faculty that he will take administrative leave in 2003 then return to the classroom as professor of management. While on leave his activities will focus on course development and technology and research.

“Eighteen years as dean is uncommon, and I treasure my time in this role,” Taylor said. “With a terrific faculty and staff, we have achieved a great deal together. I would now like to refocus on my role as a teacher.”

Taylor said he set four goals during his last decanal review in 1998-99: to steer the college through a difficult financial reallocation; to raise the college’s national awareness as president of the AACSB International: Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business; to increase its endowment to $30 million; and to guide the college through AACSB re-accreditation.

The college reached the first three goals; the re-accreditation review will be this fall.
