LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A group of 27 students who are expected to graduate this spring or summer through the University of Louisville’s Cardinal Covenant program will be among those recognized at an April 6 event to celebrate the program’s successes.
UofL President James Ramsey and other officials will speak at the 6:30 p.m. celebration at the Swain Student Activities Center’s Multipurpose Room. About 150 students, families and guests are expected to attend the event.
The 27 graduates represent the first Cardinal Covenant graduating class, although a student who completed her studies in three years, Nicole Wilkins, graduated last year through the program.
Cardinal Covenant is the first program of its kind in Kentucky and was launched four years ago to help low-income families fund a college education. Kentucky families living at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty level are eligible for participation.
About 321 students are currently enrolled in the program.
