LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Candidates for Kentucky governor will speak at a Sept. 11 public event organized by the Yearlings Club-University of Louisville discussion series.

The “Conversation with Candidates for Governor” event will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the NIA Center, 2900 W. Broadway.

The Democratic nominee, Gov. Steve Beshear, and the independent candidate, Gatewood Galbraith, have accepted invitations to participate. Republican nominee and Kentucky Senate President David Williams had not confirmed by midday Sept. 6 whether he will accept his invitation, according to event organizers.

Blaine Hudson, dean of UofL’s College of Arts and Sciences, will moderate the free, public discussion. Light refreshments will be served.

The Yearlings Club and the College of Arts and Sciences organize an annual discussion series aimed at bringing people in Louisville together with UofL faculty members to explore issues, share expertise and forge common bonds. The club is devoted to civic responsibility, community service and leadership development.

The rest of the Yearling Club fall discussion series will be announced later.
