Autism workshops designed to help parents, educators

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Kentucky Autism Training Center at the University of Louisville is offering a series of regional workshops for parents, educators and other professionals to help them create a supportive, positive environment for those with autism.

    Laura Ferguson, field training coordinator for KATC and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with a specialty in autism, said the workshops focus on what parents and professionals can do to help those with autism get through ordinary, daily routines.

    “Most of us can go through a daily routine without even thinking about it. But for individuals with autism tasks such as getting dressed, deciding what to eat or even greeting a friend can be challenging,” Ferguson said. “This program provides tips and ideas to make each day go more smoothly.”

    The workshops, “Supporting Autism 24/7,” will be held at various dates and locations across Kentucky as follows:
