LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Legally binding contracts known as community benefits agreements, which bring together community members, developers and city officials before a major development begins, will be discussed March 4 at the University of Louisville by Alejandro Camacho , an expert on how land use policies affect people and the environment.
Camacho is the 2013 guest speaker for UofL’s Brandeis School of Law Boehl Distinguished Lecture Series in Land Use Policy. Boehl Distinguished Lecture Series in Land Use Policy. The free, public lecture begins at 6:30 p.m. in Room 275 in the law school.
He will discuss how public participation in land use and development can provide important community benefits, boost support for a project and circumvent “after the fact” problems such as traffic congestion, home value decline and adverse environmental impacts.
