LOUISVILLE, Ky. – With summer just around the corner, the University of Louisville’s Lifelong Learning program is doing its part to help party planners jazz up their celebration by offering a noncredit class on the art of making and serving beer cocktails.
Led by veteran mixologist Joy Perrine, the June 17 Patio Apps and Beer Cocktails class will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the Shelby Campus and costs $49.
Participants will learn how to mix four beer cocktails including bloody beer punch, a fresh take on the bloody mary, and Joy’s summer beer punch, one of Perrine’s own recipes that combine beer and lemonade with blueberry and lime flavors. Ladyfingers Catering will provide seasonal appetizers to complement the cocktails.
Perrine is a fifth-generation restaurant and bartending guru who has earned Louisville Magazine’s “Best Bartender” and “Best Cocktail” awards. She is co-author of “The Kentucky Bourbon Cocktail Book” and says the best way to master the art of mixing drinks is “by getting behind a bar and having a really good bartender show you the ropes.”
Louisville-based Bluegrass Brewing Co. is providing the beer for the noncredit class.
