LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville music students are taking part in their own version of the United Nations for two performances of Mozart’s “Don Giovanni.” They and counterparts from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland, will stage the show Jan. 24 at 8 p.m. and Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. at Brown Theatre, 315 W. Broadway.
The joint cast performed to sold-out performances in Poland at the Silesian Opera. The multi-lingual cast will sing in Italian. Audience members can read the words in English subtitles.
Tickets are on sale through the Kentucky Center box office. Prices are $20 for the general public and $10 for area students. University of Louisville students, faculty and staff can attend free of charge by showing their UofL ID at the box office.
Mozart’s masterpiece, based on the fictional character Don Juan, is the second joint production by students from UofL’s School of Music and the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland. The schools have a decade-long faculty/student exchange and partnered in 2007 to produce “Figaro.”
