Nucleus program offers training for entrepreneurs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Dominic Foster recently made headlines when he and his partners sold their technology startup, Nicview, to an established public company, Natus Medical Inc. Natus provides medical devices, software and services for the newborn care market.

Developing his company – which pioneered streaming of babies under treatment in neonatal intensive care – to the point where it was an attractive acquisition target required Foster to have certain leadership skills.

He honed those skills as a participant in the LaunchIt entrepreneur training program offered by Nucleus: Kentucky’s Innovation Center.

“I graduated from the LaunchIt program with the tools I needed to take my business to the next level,” said Foster, chief technology officer of Nicview.

LaunchIt teaches entrepreneurs what they need to know to introduce a product or start a business. The 10-week course, which costs $895 per person, begins Feb. 19 and will be offered at The Nucleus, 300 E. Market St.

This marks the ninth time Nucleus, an arm of the University of Louisville Foundation, has offered the program.

“We have established a successful track record,” said Nucleus CEO Vickie Yates Brown. “Participants value the contacts that they make. They’re coached by experienced entrepreneurs who know how to launch and grow a business.”

More information can be found at nucleusky.com/nucleus-launchit-program. Applications will be accepted through Feb. 10. Space is limited.

A “Lunch and Learn” event will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Nucleus TechCenter, 201 E. Jefferson St., in the third-floor conference room.
