Kent Hatteberg, director of choral activities at UofL, is serving as choral director for Louisville Orchestra’s season-opening production of Leonard Bernstein’s “MASS.”
Nearly 70 members of UofL’s Collegiate Chorale are performing in the production’s “Latin Choir” and “Street Singers.” Faculty members are also playing in the orchestra or singing.
“This is one of the most ambitious productions an orchestra can present: a combination of theater, music, ritual and drama by an enormous number of performers. We are all very excited about the creative team leading this, including choral director Kent Hatteberg and designer Nicolas Raubertas, both of whom are passionate about this exceptional work,” said Music Director Teddy Abrams.

Also, at 7:30 p.m., Sun., Sept. 27, UofL’s Cardinal Singers, University Chorus, the Singing Cardsmen and the Wind Ensemble will perform at Comstock Concert Hall.
The Wind Ensemble, directed by Frederick Speck, received high accolades for its performance this summer at the prestigious World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles International Conference in San Jose, California. The Cardinal Singers, directed by Hatteberg, were also featured this summer at the Taipei International Choral Festival and the Singapore International Choral Festival.
