President James Ramsey and other UofL officials will make a major announcement about the university’s Charting Our Course campaign Thursday. Faculty, staff, students and friends are invited to attend the event.

3.) Blood drive and organ donation registration to be held

April is National Donate Life Month. You can help save lives April 8! The Trew Friends RSO is collaborating with the Red Cross and KODA for a blood drive and organ donor registration. Give the gift of life whether by donating a pint of blood to use for surgeries and transfusions and/or registering as an organ donor to save lives at the end of yours. There are people on the wait list right now in need of a transplant and many transplant survivors thriving because of donors.

10.) Manage stress through mindfulness

Mindfulness is all about paying attention, learning to spend more time focused on what is happening in the present moment in an open and accepting manner. One major source of stress is being preoccupied with events of the past or future we have no control over. You can help manage stress by living more fully in the present. 13.) Windows XP support ends today
Are you still using the Windows XP operating system? Microsoft support for XP ends April 8 in accordance with Microsoft’s Support Lifecycle policy. After today, there will be no new security updates or virus definitions, and free or paid assisted support options or online technical content updates for XP will no longer be available. Unsupported operating systems are vulnerable to security risks. IT recommends that you upgrade to Windows 7. The new Windows 8 operating system is not fully compatible with UofL applications.

14.) Louisville’s first ‘Neighborway’ links Belknap campus, Highlands
A new bike route has been installed for commuters from the Highlands. To access the route from UofL, ride east on Cardinal Boulveard, which bends and becomes Brandeis Avenue. After crossing under the interstate, turn right on Bradley Avenue and begin following the pavement markings that proceed left onto East Barbee Avenue, then left onto Shelby Street, right onto Delor Avenue, left onto Hickory Street, jogging across Goss onto Spratt, and then right onto Ellison Avenue, which brings you to Barret Avenue in the Highlands.

The Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities is seeking proposals for paper presentations, roundtable presentations, and poster presentations. The Office of the Vice President for Community Engagement will cover the cost of registration for a limited number of presenters who have proposals accepted. This year’s conference will be held October 5 to7 and is hosted by Syracuse University.
