    2.) Come to the Robotic Egg-Hunt Contest

    Dec. 16, noon to 1:30 p.m., 117 Duthie Center

    Free

    Come and watch robots playing Egg Hunt. Teams of students in ECE 564, Fundamentals of Autonomous Robots, designed robots that can play Egg Hunt as a final project. The robots are autonomous (self-controlled, no human interaction) and designed using LEGO Mindstorms and Handy Board Microcontroller units. Sponsored by the electrical and computer engineering department.

    3.) Christmas ordering schedule for radioactive material

    Here is the Christmas ordering schedule from the Radiation Safety Office: Last day to order radioactive isotopes will be Friday, Dec. 19, for delivery on Monday, Dec. 22 or Tuesday, Dec. 23. With the University holiday schedule, we do not want to have any radioactive material trying to be delivered during closed hours. We will resume ordering on Monday, January 5.

    4.) Workshop to be held on USA-Ukraine digital forensics and security

    Dec. 18, 1 to 4:30 p.m., McCandless Hall, Room 101

    Free

    The USA-Ukraine workshop on digital forensics and security focuses on issues of technology and analytics in addressing domestic and transnational cyber crime. Presenters include computer and law enforcement experts from UofL and institutions of the Ukraine.

    5.) Time to consider the Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP)

    Deadline March 2

    The SROP provides UofL undergraduate students who would like to know more about graduate-level education at the university, with a 10-week research-intensive experience in a department that offers graduate degrees. Mentors will provide students with individualized research projects. All UofL departments with graduate programs will be supported. Students should be, preferably, in their sophomore or junior year of study. The deadline is March 2, 2015.

    The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine features Joseph Wu, MD, PhD, director, Stanford Cardiovascular Institute and professor, Department of Medicine Cardiology and Radiology. Dr. Wu will present “ iPSCs for Cardiac Disease Modeling and Drug Discovery.”
