Parking Alert
1.) Parking alert for entrance to Floyd Street lot
Feb. 6 to Feb. 9
A new concrete entrance will be poured for the north side of the parking lot on Floyd Street by Thrust Theater beginning on Friday, Feb. 6. From Feb. 6 to Feb. 9, the north (main) entrance of the lot will be closed. Access will be available to the lot from the south entrance on Floyd Street by the Papa John’s restaurant. The restaurant is aware of the expected additional traffic over these four days at the south entrance.

2.) Families invited to experience Mardi Gras at the planetarium
Feb. 22, Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium; Reservations required by Feb. 17
The Mardi Gras party will include two showings of the New Orleans-based Disney movie “The Princess and the Frog,” as well as stations where children will be invited to make their own Mardi Gras masks and necklaces, along with other activities. Kids and parents will also get to sample king cake. The movie will be shown at 2 p.m. and again at 4 p.m. in the planetarium dome. Kids’ activities will run from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the center. Reservations are required for all guests and should be made no later than Feb. 17 at 2015uoflmardigras.eventbrite.com. Registrants will select which screening time to attend during registration.
3.) Celebrate National Wear Red Day on Friday
Feb. 6, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., SAC
Heart disease is the No. 1 killer in women in the United States. Learn more about this and other facts by visiting the Women’s Center table in the SAC on Friday, Feb. 6 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. We will be located on the 2nd floor near the cafeteria. Wear RED and show support by donating to the cause.

4.) Save the Date for Transformation Tea
April 1, 3 p.m., Shumaker Research Building
The Transformation Tea for Women will take place Wednesday, April 1. The Tea began in 1997 as an open forum for the diverse spectrum of women of color and allies at UofL and offers women the opportunity to empower one another by sharing concerns, problems and positive suggestions. There will be a panel, networking and door prizes.

Nia is a sensory-based movement practice that draws from disciplines of the martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. Summer research projects are now being solicited from faculty to submit a biomedical summer research project for our medical students. The student’s stipend support and poster production costs are covered by the School of Medicine’s Summer Research Scholar Program (SRSP) and NIH training grants.
