1.) TIME CHANGE: High school research conference presentations

Undergraduate Admissions will host the National Consortium for Specialized Secondary Schools of Mathematics, Sciences, and Technology’s Student Summer Research Conference. Conference participants are from all regions of the U.S. This is an opportunity to showcase for attendees what is great about UofL and our city. Each student will present their research either through a poster session or oral presentation. Please stop by to hear what these young people have discovered. Schedule is as follows: 8 to 9:30 a.m. Poster Session/Strickler Lobby; 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Research Presentations/Davidson Hall; 1:30 to 4:15 p.m. (NOTE TIME CHANGE) Research Presentations/Davidson Hall.

2.) Registration deadline for PLAN Career Colloquium approaching
July 25 (registration closes July 18), 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Houchens Building, Room 105
Graduate students are invited to register for this half-day, intensive Career Colloquium workshop. This workshop is particularly targeted for students entering the job market this year, but is open to all students who want to learn more about the job search process. Registration closes on July 18 at midnight, so be sure to sign up now to reserve your seat!

3.) Learn about retirement options from UofL professor

Register now to attend a two-hour retirement workshop sponsored by the School of Accountancy and presented by faculty member and certified financial planner Sheila Johnston. Topics include discussion of U of L options, amounts needed for retirement, basic retirement issues and much more.

The Delphi Center is opening registration for the University Business Training (UBT) program. The UBT curriculum provides individuals working with business processes at UofL with the training they need to be effective in their positions. This certification program focuses on university financial and human resource processes and is a blend of online and in-classroom training. If you are interested in an abbreviated version of this program, you may discuss your training options with John Spence.

5.) Midwest Membrane Trafficking and Signaling Symposium scheduled for October

The University of Louisville has the pleasure of organizing and hosting the 2014 Midwest Membrane Trafficking and Signaling Symposium, sponsored by the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB). This one-day meeting provides opportunities to bring together scientists whose research is focused on membrane trafficking and signaling in the context of both health and disease. To register and/or submit an abstract for the poster session, please visit this site. The deadline for abstract submissions is Aug. 15, and general attendance registration is open until Sept. 15.

6.) Save the date for the Fourth Annual Dialogue on Diversity Conference

The purpose of the Dialogue on Diversity Conference is to construct a space where participants can engage in thoughtful and instructive conversations about the relevance and role of diversity in the fields of business, education, media, health, politics and religion. The conference workshops will focus on three primary issues: 1.) an overview of diversity in education, media, business, health, religion and politics 2.) best practices/ current research in diversity and 3.) diversity based techniques that can be utilized in the workplace.

Dr. Richard Gunderman is chancellor’s professor of radiology, pediatrics, medical education, philosophy, liberal arts and philanthropy at Indiana University. He is a nine-time recipient of the Indiana University Trustees Teaching Award. In 2012, he received the Alpha Omega Alpha Robert J. Glaser Award for Teaching Excellence, the top teaching award from the Association of American Medical Colleges. He will speak on The Missing Ingredient in Curriculum, Methods and Assessment.
