1.) Kentucky Convergence Conference – Call for Proposals due Aug. 29

The Call for Proposals is open for a premier event for higher education professionals across the state of Kentucky. Sessions at the 2014 Kentucky Convergence Conference (Nov. 13-14) will focus on innovations in instructional technology, best practices for higher education technology support, current issues for academic librarianship, shared concerns for Kentucky institutions, and advances in online learning and instructional design. All faculty and staff are encouraged to submit proposals.

2.) Green Tip: Air Quality Alert – No More Idle Threats!
Tuesday’s first Air Quality Alert Day of 2014 was a stark reminder that with summer heat comes even greater need to reduce smog-forming pollution. You can help by not using motorized lawn equipment, driving less and not letting cars idle while waiting for trains or pick-ups. An idling engine produces more emissions than a moving car, and restarting your car uses as much fuel as idling 20-60 seconds. Idling longer is a waste of gas and money. Summer’s a great time to walk, bike, bus or carpool!
