1.) Early amateur films of Kentucky and beyond
Aug. 1, 5 to 8 p.m., Dreamland, 810 E. Market St.
Free for Filson members, $10 for non-members
Three historic films will be shown from the Judge Arthur E. Hopkins Collection. Films will be shown on a loop throughout the event. The amateur footage shows Louisville, Indianapolis and the region. Refreshments will be available. The event is sponsored by the Filson Historical Society, a member of the Center for Arts and Culture Partnerships.

3.) It’s time to renew your parking permit
Parking permits need to be replaced by Aug. 25, and permits do not renew automatically. If you already have a permit this year, you should have received an email with instructions. If you don’t have one or didn’t get an email, click here. And don’t forget, UofL has a number of alternative transportation options ranging from free TARC rides with your UofL ID to car-sharing, bicycling and carpooling. They can save you money while helping to save the planet, so visit this website for more information.
4.) New services available at the Ekstrom Library Media Resources Desk
Aug. 1
Beginning Friday,the Media Resources Desk located on the east side of Ekstrom Library will provide book check out, renewal and return. These services were previously only available at the main Circulation Desk, located on the west side of the library.

5.) CORRECTION: Participants needed for tobacco study

UofL’s School of Medicine is conducting a study on the effects of tobacco exposure in healthy young adults. The study will recruit healthy unmedicated individuals who have never used tobacco or who have used any tobacco product. The study will be one visit that will last approximately two hours and include questionnaires on your health, tobacco use patterns, blood and urine collection, and other measures to give us an idea of your heart health. Participant compensation will be a gift card. IRB # 13.0590
