    Summertime has arrived and it’s time to get those abs tight, toned up and stronger with Get Healthy Now’s Ab Lab. It’s the total core workout in only 15 minutes! Doing abdominal work and lower back exercises, this class will help you develop a toned physique and improve total body strength.

    4.) Take 20 with GHN, Zumba Fitness

    Lose yourself in the music at this 20-minute Zumba class: the ultimate dance-fitness party. Take the “work” out of workout and show off those dance moves for great fitness fun! Zumba combines Latin, hip hop and international music with fun, dynamic dance moves to boost your heart rate and burn calories. Suitable for all fitness levels. If you love the Take 20, join in for a full session at the GHN Wellness Center on Mon/Wed evenings.

    5.) HR workshop next week: Green Dot Bystander Training

    Members of the campus community are encouraged to say something if we see something concerning, yet we know that can be easier said than done. The PEACC (Prevention Education Advocacy on Campus and in the Community) Center offers some practical solutions to these situations. We specialize in manageable “Green Dots” that staff and faculty can do to make a big difference in violence prevention on our campus. Join us to learn more about how you can contribute to a campus free from violence.

    6.) HIV testing certification offered

    June 27, 8:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3640 Riverpark Drive

    Become HIV testing certified by attending an all-day workshop sponsored by the HSC Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Kentucky Department for Public Health. Attendees should have a working understanding of transmission and prevention before attending. Class size is limited to 20 people. Training will be at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3640 River Park Drive, Louisville, KY 40211. RSVP is required.

    7.) Come help with UPA Garden work day

    June 3, noon to 2 p.m., 426 W. Bloom St.

    Free

    Help wanted at the Urban and Public Affairs Garden. Interested in learning more about organic gardening? Join us as we weed, water, plant, harvest and apply compost tea (an organic fertilizer and pesticide). No prior experience needed. Tools and gloves provided. Volunteers will be able to take home fresh herbs and yummy produce such as rhubarb, mint, lettuce, lovage, thyme, sage, fennel, sweet peas and more.
