    HR Items of Interest

1.) Staff Development can help with difficult supervisor/employee conversations

    3 p.m. March 12, Room 109, Abell Building

    Free

Supervisors and managers often look for the “perfect time” to discuss issues or hope employees will make changes on their own. It is hard to have conversations about sensitive subjects, but it is important to address these issues so that employees are performing to the best of their ability. Staff Development will offer a two-hour session on having difficult conversations with your employees. In this workshop participants will learn best practices in having difficult conversations.

Additional Information: Registration. Questions for Brett Steele.

2.) Dealing with disciplinary issues? Attend ‘The Dos and Don’ts of Corrective Action’

    2 p.m. March 13, Room 103A, Human Resources Building

    Free

Discussing disciplinary action in the workplace can be a difficult conversation to have with employees. Please attend our workshop and engage in a “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”-style game show while learning about UofL’s corrective action policy. We will discuss job performance and work-related conduct with a shared objective of improving unsatisfactory job performance or correcting unacceptable work-related behaviors.

Additional Information: Register here. Questions for Brett Steele.

    3.) Social Media Management

    10 a.m. March 18, Room 103A, Human Resources

    Free

We will go over how to setup Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Instagram accounts and how to manage them from an end-user and university standpoint. In addition, we will discuss best practices and UofL policies for social media.

Additional Information: Registration, Questions for Brett Steele.

    Information Technology

4.) ULink offline for maintenance March 12

The ULink Portal will be offline for maintenance from 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, to 8 a.m. Thursday, March 13. We apologize for any inconvenience. For more information on IT’s Financial and Portal Tools upgrade, visit louisville.edu/it/departments/information-systems/peoplesoft/financials-9.2-upgrade.

5.) Be wary of phishing phone calls

IT has received reports of phishing calls from blocked phone numbers with no caller ID displayed. The caller informs users their PC may be infected and instructs them to go to a web site or click a link. Legitimate callers will always display a university identity on your device’s caller ID. Never follow instructions, open web pages or click links requested by an unknown source. Be suspicious of messages requesting action, and validate the identity of the messenger before taking action.

Additional Information: Please report any incidents to the IT HelpDesk at 852-7997 or helpdesk@louisville.edu.
