3.) Sustainability Scholars Roundtable: Social justice

To facilitate cross-disciplinary engagement in sustainability and resilience research, the Sustainability Council is hosting workshops featuring UofL researchers speaking for 10 minutes each, followed by discussion about possible overlapping research interests and collaboration. This final spring 2014 workshop will feature the social justice scholars Matt Cave and team in School of Medicine, Lauren Heberle and Center for Environmental Policy and Management, and geographer Charlie Zhang.

10.) Faculty: Funding available for the 2014 Kentucky Pedagogicon
The Delphi Center will provide funding for conference registration and mileage for up to 20 UofL faculty and staff members to attend this year’s 2014 Kentucky Pedagogicon in Richmond, Ky. Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis with preference given to UofL presenters and faculty. The deadline to request funding is April 8. From 2011 to 2013, the Pedagogicon was part of the Kentucky Innovation Conference and is now a joint production of the CPE, the CPE Faculty Development Workgroup and Eastern Kentucky University.

15.) The Future of Race in Cuba: A talk by Gisela Arandia Covarrubias

Gisela Arandia is an author and researcher on issues of race and identity based out of UNEAC, the Cuban Union of Artists and Writers. She is head of the Ejecutivo, ARAC, the Cuban civil rights organization. She manages the UNEAC end of the Concha Mocoyu Yoruba Cultural Center, an innovative project that brought foreign funding down to the neighborhood level in Havana to support a critically needed self-apprenticeship of the African roots.
