1.) Alex Schweder: 2015 Morgan Lecture

Alex Schweder combines performance and architecture to investigate how subjects and spaces construct one another. He will present his internationally exhibited works that explore the emerging concept of “Performance Architecture.” Schweder will discuss his time-based buildings and his performances enacted in domestic spaces. The Hite Art Institute Cressman Gallery will present projects by Alex Schweder from August 7 to September 19.

2.) Fifth annual Open Walls exhibit registration is open
Exhibit June 5-26, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Photographic Archives gallery, Ekstrom Library lower level
Registration due May 28, 5 p.m.
The 2015 Open Walls exhibit of artwork by UofL faculty and staff is scheduled for June 5 to 26 in the Photographic Archives gallery in the lower level of Ekstrom Library. The exhibit, which is in its fifth year, is an opportunity for faculty and staff who are not professional or exhibited artists to share their work. All media (i.e., paintings, photographs, woodworking, mixed media, fiber arts, jewelry, crafts) is accepted. Click on these links for the guidelines and the registration form.

The Crescent Moon Dance Company will be hosting its annual workshop and performance show Follow the Bouncing Bs, featuring Jo Hadley, who will teach an introductory class on “Bandari” Iranian folk dance, and Monica Walker, who will teach an introduction to “Bollywood” Indian dance. 9.) Green Tip: Free Lunch and Learn on sustainable farming

Everybody loves food. But where does it come from? What does it take to get it to our plates? And what needs to be done to make our food system more sustainable? Join us Friday for a discussion with local farmer, Belknap Farmers Market vendor and UofL anthropology professor Jeneen Wiche. The Sustainability Council’s EcoReps program is designed to move us all beyond talk to action for sustainability through training and service. Bring a plate and fork to enjoy a free lunch with zero waste!

12.) Study of children’s emotions
Parents and children ages 7-11 needed for a study of children’s emotions. Parents and children will come to UofL for two sessions: a three-hour session to answer questions about the child’s mood, and a two-hour session to measure the child’s heart rate while he/she completes tasks. 14.) Participants needed for tobacco study
April, Health Care Outpatient Center
UL’s School of Medicine is conducting a study on the effects of tobacco exposure in healthy young adults (21-45 years of age). The study is recruiting healthy unmedicated never or ever tobacco use participants. The study will be one visit that will last approximately two hours and include questionnaires on your social history, health, tobacco use patterns, blood and urine collection, and other measures to give us an idea of your heart health.
