DID YOU KNOW?
Fellow ACC member North Carolina State University, our opponent in Friday’s NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Sweet 16 round, has taken composting to a new level. NC State has collected more than 8,700 pizza boxes in a year-old pizza box composting pilot program. The university has placed six pizza box composting dumpsters outside residence halls and expects to collect more than 10,000 boxes in the program’s second year.

1.) Women Veterans Rock! comes to campus

Women connected to the military can network and learn about military benefits at a Women Veterans Rock! Day on Campus. UofL’s Women’s Center and Office of Military and Veterans Services are teaming up with the Midwest Chapter of Women’s Veterans Rock! to offer the event. Other sessions will take place April 27 and May 18 in W307 Swain Student Activities Center at 11 a.m. both days.

4.) Entries now being accepted for the Social Justice Research Paper Award
Deadline April 20, 4 p.m.
The Anne Braden Institute’s annual Social Justice Research Paper Award recognizes student work on one or more social justice topics. Preference is given to papers engaging race, class, gender, sexuality, religion, peace/conflict, environmentalism, disability, and/or age. Papers do NOT have to be about Anne Braden, but undergrads are required to use the Braden Institute’s resources. Contest is open to students from all schools and disciplines. Submit entries to Anne Braden Institute, Ekstrom Library, Room 258.

5.) Research study for women with fibromyalgia syndrome
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between communication with your healthcare provider and feelings of illness uncertainty, helplessness and well-being in women with fibromyalgia syndrome. The estimated time for completion of the study surveys is less than 30 minutes. Potential benefits: We hope this study will help healthcare providers recognize the importance of using positive communication with women with fibromyalgia. IRB #14.1296
