Thirty-four ACC Recreational Sports Directors and assistants convened in Louisville May 18-20 for the annual ACC Recreational Sports Directors’ Conference.
As the newest member of the ACC, the University of Louisville hosted the directors at the Student Recreation Center for roundtable discussions on trends in recreational sports and how to improve programs at their respective institutions.
In addition to the meetings, attendees were given a tour of the SRC, the newest athletics facility at any school in the conference, and were impressed by the amenities, management strategies and programs offered there.
The conference also provided an opportunity for attendees to network and share camaraderie, similar to the function that intramurals themselves play in college life.
“Intramural sports are one of the primary ways students get acclimated to campus,” said UofL Director of Intramural Sports Dale Ramsay. “They provide stress relief, keep students healthy and help them meet new people.”
UofL’s intramural sports program includes dozens of leagues, tournaments and sports clubs ranging from Tae Kwon Do to tennis to tabletop gaming, open to all students, faculty and staff.
