    Did You Know?

    The sculpture in Trager Plaza near the Miller IT Center on the Belknap Campus was created by Kentucky artist Barney Bright (1927-1997) and is called “Truth and Justice.” Bright is best known for his work on the Louisville Clock.

    1.) New Competency-Based Education Healthcare Leadership track available

    The College of Education and Human Development and UofL Online Learning are proud to introduce the first competency-based education (CBE) program at the University of Louisville. This program is a Healthcare Leadership track within the Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and Learning, designed for experienced healthcare professionals seeking to complete a bachelor’s degree in a flexible learning format, at their own pace. Students earn up to 48 credit hours (tuition-free) when they complete a Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), saving them time and money.

    2.) New Healthcare Master’s track available

    The Department of Physiology in the Medical School is initiating a new Clinical Physiology, or Pre-Health Care, Track within its Master of Science (MS) graduate program. Both the Pre-Health Care Track and the traditional Research Track are non-thesis programs that can be completed in one calendar year. We will be accepting applications for both tracks through the first week of August.

    3.) Webinar: ‘Research Misconduct: What’s in a Name?’

    June 29, 2-3 p.m.; Free

    This webinar will help you: Assess your current institutional definition in view of the historic US definition of research misconduct; Understand what the advantages and disadvantages of aligning with the Federal definition for research misconduct are; Compare and contrast different federal agency interpretations and enforcement of their definitions of misconduct; and Understand the implications of other countries’ definition of research misconduct.

    4.) Feel alive and rejuvenated with Intro to Nia

    Tuesdays, 6:40 to 7:40 p.m., Get Healthy Now Wellness Center at Humana Gym 601 Presidents Blvd.; Free for members at the GHN Wellness Center

    Nia is a sensory-based movement practice that draws from disciplines of the martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. Every class offers a unique combination of 52 moves that correspond with the main areas of the body: the base, the core, and upper extremities.

    6.) Neuroscience Grand Rounds

    Jeffrey Petruska, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Anatomical Sciences & Neurobiology and Department of Neurological Surgery, will present “Potential Mechanisms for, and the Prevention of Persistent Post-Surgical Pain Revealed by Novel Assessments and Experimental Design” at this week’s Neuroscience Grand Rounds. CME and CEU credit will be given to those who attend. Continental breakfast will be served.
