    UofL Today with Mark Hebert

    1.) WHAS-TV, Great Day Live

    Mondays at 9:30 a.m. UofL’s Mark Hebert has a story about UofL and talks with Rachel Platt and Terry Meiners about campus events. Segments can be found on YouTube.  

    • Monday, July 11 – UofL’s Digital Media Academy for 6th grade girls
    • WLKY-TV also runs the UofL stories on their Saturday morning newscasts

     

    2.) Radio Show

    Airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 6 p.m. on 93.9 FM The Ville; replayed on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Hebert hosts two weekly 30-minute programs focusing on research, programs, successful students and insights from UofL’s faculty experts. This week’s schedule:

    • Monday, July 11 – Astronomy professor Tim Dowling discusses the Juno probe and his 30-year-old theory about Jupiter’s atmosphere; Paleontologist and Medical School professor Guillermo Rougier talks about his discovery of ancient small mammals in South America; Kathleen Hoye from Family Business Center on Family Business Leadership Award nominations.
    • Tuesday, July 12 – Brandeis School of Law acting dean Susan Duncan; Susan Buchino from Commonwealth Institute at SPHIS on research involving ACA and health care access in Louisville.

    4.) Notice to departments that receive gifts via wire transfer

    If your department receives gifts via wire transfer, there are new wire transfer instructions effective July 1 for all gifts.  Please contact Judy Singleton or Susan Colin in Advancement Services to obtain the updated information to ensure the gift for your department is received and recorded in a timely manner.

    5.) New UL Wireless Certificate after July 15

    On Friday, July 15 at approximately 10 p.m., IT will update UofL’s wireless security certificate. After this update, you will need to accept the new certificate the next time you log into the ULsecure wireless network on each of your wireless devices. The procedure taken depends on the operating system or type of device used. To see the steps necessary for your computer, smartphone or other wireless device, visit the new wireless certificate information page.

    6.) School of Medicine JHFE Research Enhancement Grant deadline July 15

    The Jewish Heritage Foundation for Excellence Research Enhancement Grant (JHFE Research Enhancement Grant) program offers funding to School of Medicine faculty principal investigators to gather new data to improve a previously submitted a multi-year, nationally peer reviewed grant application that scored well but was not funded. The deadline is July 15.

    7.) Lab safety/hazardous waste and radiation safety training scheduled

    July 14, 9-11:45 a.m., Room 2034, K-wing (Nursing School), HSC Campus; Free

    Recently hired lab employees who work with chemicals should attend the lab safety/hazardous waste session. Individuals who will begin working with or around radioactive materials should attend the radiation safety orientation session, which starts immediately after lab safety. Please register for the class online, clicking on classroom training and select the appropriate class or classes to sign up.
