ESPN College GameDay will be in Louisville for the first time Saturday ahead of the noon matchup between UofL and Florida State University. Louisville is the 76th different city from which GameDay will originate. UofL is also the 67th different school to host the show and the seventh first-time school to do so in the last three years.

1.) Reminder: Pancake Breakfast to aid American Heart Association
Sept. 16, 7:30-9 a.m., Bigelow Hall
UofL officials will be flipping pancakes Friday morning in Bigelow Hall to benefit the American Heart Association Heart Walk. Senior Vice President Harlan Sands and others will serve up a breakfast that includes pancakes, bacon, sausage, potatoes, yogurt, fresh fruit and other items. Cost is a donation of at least $5 to the AHA Heart Walk. Reservations are not required, but you can help them plan for the crowd by registering at: svpfiadm@louisville.edu. If you are unable to attend but would still like to donate, please visit this page.
2.) Schedule set for College GameDay
ESPN’s College GameDay program will be on campus for this week’s UofL-Florida State football game. More info is available online. The schedule includes:
Friday
- 1:30-2 p.m., College Football Live will be live on ESPN from the GameDay set
Saturday
- 4 a.m., Fans may begin lining up near Gate 1 for access to pit behind the GameDay set
- 5 a.m.: The pit behind the ESPN College GameDay set opens
- 6 a.m.: Parking lots surrounding Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium open
- 9-11 a.m.: ESPN College Gameday live outside the stadium
- 9:45 a.m.: CardMarch
- 10:30 a.m.: Stadium Gates Open
- 11 a.m. to noon: ESPN College GameDay will be live inside the stadium

This workshop is part of a digital media initiative in the English Department. It will offer tools and strategies for creating infographics, a genre of short-form, multimodal composing well-suited for presentations, and digital circulation. Digital mapping is a powerful and popular toolkit in digital humanities. In this talk, Olson will introduce a range of techniques and technologies that reflect the current state of the art. What kinds of humanities questions do these tools enable and sustain? What are their limits? Drawing on visual and media studies, Olson will conclude by inviting discussion of some of the epistemological implications of mapping-as-method.
