Starting next Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, the UofL Today daily email will not be sent on Fridays. If you wish to promote a Friday event, please submit your announcement by noon on the preceding Wednesday and it will appear in the Thursday email. Submissions can still be made on Fridays to appear in Monday’s email. Aside from Friday announcements, the deadline for UofL Today will remain the same for the rest of the week (noon the day before). 9.) Bioengineering Dept. Seminar Series continues Thursday
September 29, noon to 1:30 p.m., The Vogt Building, Room 311
Dr. Kevin Haworth, assistant professor of Internal Medicine and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati, will speak on “The Case of the Missing Oxygen and Other Adventures in Ultrasound.” Acoustically active agents are being investigated for both diagnostic and therapeutic applications, and hold great promise as a non-invasive or minimally invasive therapeutic approach for a variety of diseases, including cardiovascular diseases and cancer. UofL Biomedical Ultrasonics and Cavitation Laboratory is investigating the ability to selectively sequester dissolved gases from fluids for the treatment of a variety of diseases using an acoustically active agent.

Juniors will be able to explore and experience various sources of energy and how it is used. They board our virtual rocket ship to get a first-hand look at light pollution and constellations. Let your child’s fascination with astronauts take flight in this workshop. Your 4-to-6-year-old will be engaged and amazed during the fun hands-on activities and demonstrations that illustrate the challenges of space travel.
