    Did You Know?
    UofL’s Micro/NanoTechnology Center’s service center and Huson Nanotechnology Core Facility have been reorganized to connect MNTC’s large external user base to HNCF services. The goal of joining these two centers is to increase revenue in support of maintaining and further expanding HNCF capabilities. In recognition of the importance of HNCF to advancing UofL’s research mission, the HNCF service center will join and be managed as part of the MNTC service center.

    1.) Changes mark a new day for UofL Today

    A new and improved UofL Today daily email will appear in your inbox starting Monday, Oct. 3. Changes have been made to present an updated, visually appealing message while continuing to deliver important, campus-wide news, announcements and events. The new UofL Today email will be delivered Monday through Thursday. More information about these changes is available online.

    3.) UofL Women’s Center Empowerment Luncheon part of 25th anniversary celebration

    November 16, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., University Club; $50 per person

    Reservations are being accepted for the 14th Annual Women’s Center Empowerment Luncheon featuring Carla F. Wallace, social justice activist. Wallace will discuss “Race & Economics’ Impact on Women’s Equality: Creating Change That Leaves No One Behind.” Several awards will also be presented at the luncheon, which is part of the 25th anniversary celebration of the Women’s Center.     4.) Student Affairs celebrates 40 years of impacting student success

    This year the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Louisville celebrates 40 years of engaging service to students. We are inviting back to campus current/former students, staff, and faculty on Oct. 21-23 for a variety of events to help us celebrate the milestone anniversary.

    5.) COSW sponsorship: Conference for Staff Women

    The COSW will sponsor an attendee to the 2016 Women’s Leadership Conference. This sponsorship is open to staff (e.g., from facilities and operations, administration, auxiliary services, student affairs, recreation, libraries, etc.) who aspire to be senior leaders in higher education. Application deadline is October 10, 2016.

    6.) Cap and gown orders now being taken for December commencement

    The ordering website is open for faculty and students to place an order for academic apparel for the December 2016 Commencement Ceremony. The deadline to order apparel is Monday, October 31, at midnight. Graduation participants should visit the commencement web site for information on the ceremony and to place a cap and gown order.

    7.) 2016 Clery Report now available online

    The Annual Security and Fire Report in compliance with the Clery Act is now available online. The report provides the crime and fire statistics for all UofL campuses as well as security policies as prescribed within the Clery Act. It may viewed here.

    8.) Discourse and Semiotics Workshop: ‘The stories we learn to tell: New teachers’ narratives of identity’

    October 14, 2-4 p.m., Stevenson 409

    In this workshop, Rachel Gramer from the Department of English’s Rhetoric and Composition Program will present a dissertation chapter work-in-progress in two parts: (1) a brief talk on narrative as a methodology for studying newcomer identities, and (2) an interactive discussion of artifacts and stories collected during a year-long interview study with new writing teachers at UofL.

    Try our energetic, strength-based and stress relieving classes like Lunchtime Yoga, Power Vinyasa, PiYo, Pilates, Tai Chi and Barre Basics.
