DID YOU KNOW UofL’s Gheens Science Hall & Rauch Planetarium has a traveling dome, called the Owsley Brown II Portable Planetarium, which is used to offer elementary students an immersive educational experience designed around the framework of the Next Generation Science Standards. A fundraiser will be held Nov. 16 to raise funds to send the portable planetarium to Bloom Elementary School.
FACULTY AND STAFF NOTABLES Dr. Gary L. Gregg, II, holds the Mitch McConnell Chair in Leadership at UofL and is the director of the McConnell Center. He is also the author or editor of six books, including “Securing Democracy: Why We Have an Electoral College.” Gregg was quoted in the New York Times last week because of his expertise on the electoral college.

Street closure alert for TuesdayOn Tuesday, November 15, 3rd Street will be closed from Eastern Parkway to Winkler Avenue between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The street closure is needed to allow repairs on the railroad. TARC Route #94 will detour during this time. The only affected bus stop location will be on 3rd Street just south of Eastern Parkway, directly across from Reynolds Lofts. New name for pediatric facilities, medical practices and servicesNorton Healthcare’s pediatric facilities, practices and services has undergone a name change. The new name will be listed on all internal and external documents (including, informed consent documents, patient materials, etc). The Norton Healthcare Research Office will notify researchers with projects using a pediatric facility that study documents will require modification to reflect the change. All changes must be approved by the Institutional Review Board prior to Dec. 31.
