DID YOU KNOW “Play,” a 47-minute orchestral work by American composer Andrew Norman, is the winner of the 2017 University of Louisville Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition. In three movements, “Play” explores the relationship of choice and chance, freewill and control. It was commissioned by the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, with funding from Music Alive. Norman is a Los Angeles-based composer of orchestral, chamber and vocal music.
FACULTY AND STAFF NOTABLES School of Medicine Dean Toni Ganzel was named the LGBT Center’s 2016 Faculty/Staff Ally Award winner for the Health Sciences Center and Diane Whitlock of the Office for Diversity was named the winner for the Belknap Campus during Pride Week this year.
