    DID YOU KNOW

    Dr. Terry Singer, former dean of the Kent School of Social Work, is donating some of his time this summer to provide yardwork for those who need labor. In exchange for the labor, he is asking those who benefited to make a donation to Kentucky Refugee Ministries. Singer has been involved with KRM for nearly two decades, including helping grow a social work practicum partnership between KRM and the Kent School.

     

    FACULTY AND STAFF NOTABLES

    Mark Casey, Fort Knox program coordinator for the Department of Educational Leadership, Evaluation and Organizational Development, was elected to serve as a Member-at-Large on the Board of Directors for the Mid-South Association of College and Military Educators (ACME). ACME encourages educational institutions to be innovative and flexible in meeting the needs of military students while maintaining the highest ethical standards.

     

     

    Miscellaneous

    Student Activities Center summer hours

    The Student Activities Center summer hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays. The SAC will be closed on most weekends. Also, the SAC will be closed July 1, 2 and 4, with limited hours on July 3, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    Next stop for ‘HR on Tour’ scheduled Tuesday on Belknap Campus

    June 20, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Ekstrom Library, Room 210
    This Tuesday, June 20, UofL Human Resources will be at the Ekstrom Library (Room 210) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. HR reps be available to answer any HR related questions and provide guidance and resources. Please take 5-10 minutes to stop by if you can. More information about the tour, including future dates and locations, is available online.

    Training for Panopto, UofL’s new lecture capture system

    UofL has selected a new lecture capture partner to replace Tegrity. Panopto allows you to create, edit and import video or lecture capture for your course. You can also embed video in Blackboard, live stream or capture video with mobile devices. Panopto is currently available for all users with a Ulink account. Learn the ins and outs of Panopto during a virtual training session (offered using Blackboard Collaborate), available online.

    Live Training Event: Transitioning into a Non-academic Career

    The Department of Urology presents Dr. Laurence Klotz, University of Toronto

    Dr. Klotz has served as President of the Canadian Urological Association and the Canadian Urology Research Society. He is the Chairman of the Canadian Urology Research Consortium and World Uro-Oncology Federation, and is an Associate Editor of the Canadian Journal of Urology.     Feel alive and rejuvenated with Nia

    Nia is a sensory-based movement practice that draws from disciplines of the martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. Every class offers a unique combination of 52 moves that corresponds with the main areas of the body: the base, the core, and upper extremities.

    Children 7 to 13 years needed for anxiety and worry study

    Does your child seem worried or stressed? Interested in knowing more about your child’s emotions? The UofL Anxiety and Stress in Kids Lab is conducting a study examining the nature of worry and anxiety in parents and children.
