    DID YOU KNOW

    The University of Louisville placed 351 student-athletes on the 61st annual Atlantic Coast Conference Honor Roll for the 2016-17 academic year. The Cardinals’ 351 honorees ranked as the fifth-highest total among any school in the league. Louisville had 346 student-athletes recognized a year ago.

     

    FACULTY AND STAFF NOTABLES

    UofL English professor Andrew Rabin will give a talk prior to the start of the next Bards’ Cards evening, July 16 at Kentucky Shakespeare Festival in Central Park in Old Louisville. His talk begins at 7:15 p.m. on the C. Douglas Ramey Amphitheatre stage, and the performance of “Richard II” begins at 8 p.m.

     

     

    Miscellaneous

    Southbound Floyd Street closed today and Thursday

    In order to accommodate the delivery of new arena seating for Cardinal Arena, southbound Floyd Street from Brandeis to the first red light (circle driveway into the SAC), will be closed from approximately 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Thursday. The roundabout will be open, as well as the northbound traffic on Floyd Street. If the truck is unloaded before 5 p.m., the road will be opened earlier.

     

    Retirement Reception for Keith Inman, Vice President for University Advancement

    The university community is invited to attend and wish Keith well in his retirement. Keith has served as Vice President for University Advancement since November 2006.  From 2007 to 2014, he oversaw the successful “Charting Our Course” fundraising campaign.  The campaign exceeded its $1 billion goal ahead of schedule and by nearly $59 million.  For the duration of the campaign, fundraising increased by an unprecedented 165%. In 1998, he served as assistant vice president of the UofL Health Science Center Development Office.  A 1978 UofL grad and self-proclaimed “Cardinal forever,” he held prominent positions with Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Healthcare, Jewish Hospital Foundation, Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare Foundation, University of Maryland, and the Jim Valvano Foundation for Cancer Research. A short program will begin at 5 p.m. RSVP by Friday, July 14 via email. 

     

    Louisville AIDS Walk and Pet Walk

    Join the UofL 550 Clinic team in the local fight against HIV/AIDS. The Louisville AIDS Walk heightens awareness of HIV/AIDS, unites the community and raises money to address the needs of local people who are living with HIV/AIDS.

    Registration now open for the fall Project Management Certificate program – employee discounts available

    Earn your Project Management Certificate from UofL in four months. This two-seminar program is based on the processes and knowledge areas in the Project Management Institute’s “A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge.” A limited number of spaces in the first and second seminar are available at a 25 percent discount for UofL employees.     Use tuition benefits for Master of Public Health

    There is still time to take advantage of the tuition remission benefit for fall 2017 by applying for the Master of Public Health (MPH) program in the School of Public Health and Information Sciences. Concentrations offered in biostatistics, health policy, epidemiology, population health management, health promotion/behavior, and global health/maternal and child health emphasis.     Adolescent MDD/Depression 12 to 17 years old

    The UofL Kosair Charities Pediatric Clinical Research Unit at Norton Children’s Hospital is conducting a research study evaluating the safety and effectiveness of an investigational drug in adolescents ages 12 to 17 years old who have MDD or feelings of depression. If your child is eligible his or her participation will last approximately 10 weeks, including 9 visits to the study site, which compensation for time and travel is provided.
