DID YOU KNOW Olympic Gold Medalist and former Cardinal swimmer Kelsi Worrell has been named Grand Marshal for the 2017 UofL Homecoming Parade, which is Friday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m.
FACULTY AND STAFF NOTABLES Professors Suzanne Meeks (Psychological & Brain Sciences) and Russ Vandenbroucke (Theater Arts), along with graduate student Sarah Kelly Shryrock (Psychological & Brain Sciences), published their National Endowment of the Arts-funded research in The Gerontologist titled “Theatre involvement and well-being, age differences, and lessons from long-term subscribers.” Their study shows theatre involvement is indirectly related to hedonic well-being and social functioning.

Miscellaneous Oval parking information for GameDayESPN’s College GameDay will broadcast live from the Oval Saturday prior to the UofL/Clemson football game. Starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, the reserved parking lot south of Grawemeyer Hall will be closed. It will remain closed until Sunday morning. On Saturday, the Oval and buildings located on the Oval will be closed. The Oval will re-open late Saturday afternoon, once the crowd has cleared. Until 2 p.m. Saturday, free parking will be available to the public in the green lot across from Reynolds Lofts on Third Street.
Some items prohibited for GameDayThose who want to be a part of ESPN’s College GameDay on the Oval will have a few rules to follow. The show will air Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon and the set will be in front of Grawemeyer Hall on Third Street. Access to the Oval area will begin at 5 a.m. Fans will be checked by a security wand. Items not allowed include tents, bags, backpacks, purses, signs on a stick, pens, pencils, markers, dry erase boards, food or drink. Signs should not include offensive, vulgar or inappropriate/solicitation language (no political, religious or .com/.org/.net signage). Finally, throwing objects is prohibited.
UofL Alert System testing to take place Sept. 14The UofL Alert System will be tested at 10 a.m. on Thursday September 14, 2017. The UofL Alert system will be activated to test our notification system. No actions should be taken in response to the test. Testing will involve emails, text messages, VOIP phones and outdoor warning speakers. Questions should be directed to Dennis Sullivan at 852-2948.
Grand Opening Celebration of SAC MarketplaceUniversity Dining Services invites the university community to a grand opening celebration for the SAC Marketplace on September 14 at 10 a.m. in the Marketplace. This unique venue brings six new brands to campus including Olilo, Southern Traditions, Prime Grill, Aqua Sushi by Drake’s and the Exchange increasing dining choices to more than 20 locations. Surplus Warehouse to reopen WednesdayThe Surplus Warehouse located at 1901 S. Floyd St. on the Belknap Campus will reopen Wednesday, September 13. Warehouse hours are 8 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. Department representatives may select items for department use only. There is no charge if the department representatives remove the item(s) from Surplus. Departments may request for a fee that Physical Plant deliver the reserved items by completing the Chargeable Service Request online form, which is online.
