FACULTY AND STAFF NOTABLES Patricia Benson, AVP of Health, Wellness and Disease Management, is a founding member of the National University Wellness Summit focused on faculty and staff wellbeing. She co-chaired last week’s fifth annual University Summit in Phoenix along with representatives from Michigan State, the University of Iowa, Emory, and the University of Michigan. The university summit coincides with the annual HERO Forum on Engagement and the Emerging Workforce.

Mammograms for UofL employees availableSeptember 27, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Belknap Campus, Gottschalk Circle next to Shumaker Research Bldg. The mobile mammography van is coming to the Belknap Campus. Women must be 40 or over, and not had a mammogram within the past year. Insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid will be billed. Faculty Research funding opportunityPilot project grants from The Center for Restorative Medicine are available for seeding of novel research to facilitate additional funding, foster new collaborative partnerships and/or support junior faculty. We anticipate funding three pilot projects of $50,000. Faculty leadership will review for consistency with the mission of the Center for Restorative Medicine and advisory board will review proposals for innovation and scientific merit. We will cover concepts such as the genre conventions of scholarly writing, strategies for reading and responding to unfamiliar or difficult texts, and expectations for how grad students are to use the scholarship they read in class and in writing.
