DID YOU KNOW The Spanish section of UofL’s classical and modern languages department organizes the “Reel Latin America” Film Festival every year in conjunction with the Spanish language newspaper Al Dia en America. This year’s festival, the 24th annual, is Oct. 5-Nov. 10.

Submit your nomination for the 2017 Faculty/Staff Pride Week Ally AwardThe students, faculty, and staff served by the LGBT Center announce the annual Pride Week Faculty/Staff Ally Award. Candidates for the award can include any faculty or staff member who is making positive decisions and speaking out for LGBTQ+ people on our campus. The winner will be announced during a Pride Week event. Deadline to nominate someone is Oct. 17.

Mary K. Bonsteel Tachau Essay Contest accepting submissionsThe U of L Women’s Center is accepting submissions from UofL undergraduate and graduate students for the Tachau Essay Contest. The purpose of the contest is to raise awareness of the historical sociological attitudes toward women of the 20th Century and their impact on individuals and society as a whole. Award amount for winning entries are $500 each for undergraduate and graduate students. Staff and faculty are encouraged to share with students information about this award.
