Vote for Louisville to be part of Steve Case’s entrepreneurial tour

    Oct. 11 deadline
Steve Case, founder of AOL, chairman and CEO of Revolution LLC, and one of America’s best-known and most accomplished entrepreneurs, is spearheading a national competition and tour, Revolution’s Rise of the Rest (ROTR), to find and fund entrepreneurial activities. The city of Louisville is one of 20 cities competing to be part of this tour. Becoming one of the ROTR cities would bring national attention and a $100,000 investment pitch competition to Louisville. It also would bring a personal visit from Steve Case and exposure to him and his colleagues for many other local entrepreneurs. As an incubator for many of these entrepreneurs, our College of Business would benefit as well in terms of national recognition, exposure to investors and through the success of alumni who would compete for the investment funding. The selection will be based on popular vote by Oct. 11. Please take a moment to vote for Louisville online.

Partnership for a Green City energy tip 6: Social justice and emissions from power plants

It is not easy living near a power plant. Coal-fired plants contribute 67 percent of sulfur dioxide (SO2), 23 percent of nitrogen oxides (NOx), and 34 percent of all mercury emissions in the nation, it is not surprising to notice increased rates of asthma, cardiovascular disease, and pre-mature and low birth-weight births in these communities. Emissions tests at coal plants have revealed 67 different air toxics. You have the power to make a difference by conserving energy.
