DID YOU KNOW The Belknap Campus Farmers Market is set to return in 2018 with a new schedule and a new location. The market will open Wed., April 4, noon to 3 p.m. in the plaza outside the Red Barn. It will run every Wednesday, same time, same place, during the month of April, and customers will have the opportunity to subscribe to Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) farms for weekly deliveries of fresh food throughout the summer. The market will then break until Wednesday, Aug. 15, when it will start up again (same time, same place) and run through the end of October.
Faculty and staff notables Lissa McCracken, executive director of the Kentucky Pollution Prevention Center in the J.B. Speed School of Engineering, has received the 2017 Most Valuable Pollution Prevention Volunteer of the Year Award. The award is given by the National Pollution Prevention Roundtable every September during National Pollution Prevention Week. It recognizes outstanding pollution prevention and energy efficiency projects. McCracken has worked at KPPC since 1998, and was named executive director in April 2015.

If your department receives funds to be deposited into a gift or endowment program, please deliver them to Advancement Operations as soon as possible. HR Volunteer readers needed for social justice literacy projectAdult Black male volunteers are invited to provide interactive read aloud experiences with high-quality, culturally-appropriate children’s books for children and caregivers in the UofL Pediatrics-Downtown waiting room. Volunteers will be trained and may choose to participate in an optional research study (IRB# 16.1279) about this experience, sponsored by the Consortium for Transdisciplinary Social Justice Research, directed by Dr. Kathryn Whitmore, CEHD. Studies Pilot study for dissertation projectAdults aged 50 years and older are invited to participate in a brief pilot study. The study should take approximately 5 minutes. Participants will be asked two read two short stories and answer a small number of questions following each story. Follow this link to participate. IRB: 17.1151.
Prayer ResearchResearch participants needed! Researchers at the University of Louisville and Penn State are looking for participants to complete a 45-minute survey on their private prayer behaviors and beliefs. Questions or concerns about the study can be directed to Dr. Stephanie Winkeljohn Black. The study has been approved by the IRBs at the University of Louisville (IRB # 16.1255) and Penn State.
